China'S Energy Storage Lithium Battery Market Will Reach 5.2 Billion Yuan In 2019

GGII data show that in 2017, the production and sales of new energy vehicles in China were close to 800,000, reaching 794,000 and 777,000 respectively, up 53.8% and 53.3% respectively, and the growth rate of production and sales increased by 2.1 and 0.3 percentage points respectively. In 2017, the new energy automobile market accounted for 2.7%, which was 0.9 percentage points higher than the previous year.

The strong development momentum of new energy vehicles has led to the rapid development of new energy automotive motor market. According to GGII statistics, in 2017, the installed capacity of new energy automotive motors in China was about 874,000 units, an increase of 56% over the same period last year. In 2017, BYD ranked first in the installed capacity of new energy automotive motors, with a total installed capacity of 138,557 units. According to the data, BYD and Beijing Hualin are the matching enterprises for the installation of BYD motors.

In 2018, shipments of Li-ion batteries (excluding communication power, data centers, UPS and other lithium batteries) in China increased 113.3% year-on-year, and 3.2GWh, with a scale of 4.08 billion yuan, 46.8% year-on-year.

The market size is expected to reach 5.2 billion yuan in 2019, an increase of 27% over the same period last year.

In May 2019, the total installed capacity of domestic power batteries was about 5.68 GWh, an increase of 26% over the previous year. Passenger cars were about 3.98 GWh, up 119.5%, passenger cars were about 0.93 GWh, down 60.7%, and special cars were about 0.76 GWh, up 142%.
